Additional information
- Paperless tickets are only valid within 2 km of the station where they are booked.
- Tickets are valid only for the date and time selected during booking, so plan accordingly.
- Refunds are generally not allowed for paperless tickets once they have been issued.
- You cannot cancel a printed ticket online once it’s been booked. You’ll need to approach the station counter for any refund or cancellation.
- The UTS app is available only for certain trains and stations. Not all regions have the GPS tracking feature for paperless tickets, so always check whether your station supports it.
- our UTS account is typically linked to one mobile number. If you use the app on multiple devices, ensure that your login credentials are synchronized and that you’re not violating any terms by sharing your account details.
- For paperless tickets, the UTS system allows you to book tickets only for trains operating within a specific distance from your location. If you’re planning to travel to a distant station, use a kiosk or counter for a printed ticket.
- Platform tickets purchased through UTS can only be used for entry to the platform where the ticket was booked. Ensure that you book platform tickets for the right station.
- Always keep your phone locked or secure to avoid misuse of your digital ticket.
Remember this
- UTS app is not valid for reserved tickets or trains with specific seat reservations (such as AC trains, Rajdhani, Shatabdi, etc.). It’s meant for general, unreserved travel only.
- Be mindful of ticket status: Always verify if your ticket has been successfully booked and the payment has gone through before boarding.

The UTS App by Indian Railways simplifies booking unreserved train tickets, allowing users to avoid long queues. It’s ideal for general tickets and platform tickets, but you must follow key rules like ticket validity within 2 km of the station, and carrying ID proof for paperless tickets. Printed tickets are needed for longer distances or non-GPS zones. Always verify your ticket before travel to avoid fines or penalties. The app offers convenience, but knowing its limitations ensures a smooth journey. Safe travels!
